New York Fashion Tour

This could be the trip of your dreams and your chance to go behind the scenes in New York's fashion district. We meet Sunday at our hotel near the garment district for a get acquainted dinner reception. Your guides will be Marsha McClintock and Marla Kazell. See New York from the Top of the Rock during our private half-day city bus tour and visit many of New York's fabric and trim stores as well as a fabric flower factory. Other activities include a visit to a designer's workroom, a private viewing of garments from FIT's clothing collection, the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit and a tour of McCall pattern company. An evening at a Broadway musical is planned along with a visit with a Broadway actor and costumer. You will have free time to explore New York and we will finish the week with a beautiful evening cruise on the "Bateaux," an all-glass dining vessel. This tour requires a significant amount of walking. Space is limited to 20, so don't delay. Minimum age is 16 years.

Guides: Marsha McClintock, owner of Sew Many Options Tours and SAF-T-POCKETS Patterns, is an experienced tour guide and teacher. She has led groups to NYC, Paris, Hong Kong, Toronto and Vancouver, BC. Her knowledge, approachable style, and humor will insure your tour experience will be a positive one. Marla Kazell teaches couture sewing and has assisted Marsha on many tours to New York City. Both are ASG members.

You are responsible for your own transportation to and from New York. We will meet at the Hampton Inn (59 W. 35th Street) on Sunday, May 21. Check-in is 3:00pm.

Please do not make flight arrangements until you have been notified that the minimum group number has been met. Please note: We will use mass transportation during the tour. It is important that participants are able to walk a half mile at a moderate pace and climb several flights of stairs.

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited. Reserve your place today by sending the registration form along with a deposit of $500 ($50 non-refundable) payable to American Sewing Guild. Balance is due by March 1, 2017. No refunds after final payment unless a replacement can be found. State your roommate preference or we will make every effort match you with a suitable roommate.
